what we believe
Bridges International is a nondenominational Christian mission organization. Therefore, as one of its first priorities, the ministry’s Officers and Executive Board of Directors have created and adopted the following Statement of Faith.
Dated: 09/2025
1. The Holy Scriptures We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God in the original manuscripts. It is the complete and final authority for Christian faith and life. It reveals God's plan of salvation and serves as the foundation for all doctrine, correction, and instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
2. The One True God We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one in essence and co-equal in power and glory. God is the Creator of all things, infinite, holy, sovereign, and perfect in all His attributes. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-3)
God the Father: He is the eternal and sovereign Father, who, in His perfect love and wisdom, created the universe and providentially governs all things. He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and the spiritual Father of all who believe in Him. (Ephesians 1:3-6; Psalm 145:8-9)
God the Son, Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and voluntarily offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity. He was crucified, died, and was buried, and on the third day, He rose bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for His people. He will return to earth in power and glory. (John 1:1, 14; 1 Peter 2:24; Acts 1:9-11)
God the Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is fully God. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He indwells every believer at the moment of salvation, empowering them for godly living and service. He bestows spiritual gifts upon the church for the building up of the body of Christ. (John 16:8; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
3. Humanity, Gender, and the Sanctity of Life We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, perfect and without sin. However, through the disobedience of the first man, Adam, all humanity fell into sin. As a result, every person is born with a sinful nature, separated from God, and in need of salvation. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12)
We also believe that God wonderfully and immutably created each person as male or female. These two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image of God. We believe that a person's biological sex is a foundational aspect of their identity and God's design for humanity. (Genesis 1:27, 5:2; Matthew 19:4)
Furthermore, we believe that all human life is sacred and created in God’s image, from conception to its end. Every individual possesses inherent dignity and value, and we are called to protect and advocate for the vulnerable, the unborn, the poor, and those who are marginalized.
4. The Nature of Marriage and Family We believe that God established marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman. It is a divine institution intended to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church. The family is the foundational unit of society, and we are committed to strengthening families in accordance with biblical principles.
5. Salvation We believe that salvation is a gift from God, offered to all by His grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is not earned by human works or merit. The death of Jesus on the cross is the only sufficient payment for the sins of the world. All who repent of their sin and place their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are forgiven, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and adopted into the family of God. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Titus 3:5)
6. The Church and the Great Commission We believe the Church is the spiritual body of Christ, of which Jesus is the head. It is composed of all who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God, love and serve one another, and fulfill the Great Commission—to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all that Christ has commanded. Our work is a direct expression of this calling, as we seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ through word and deed. (Ephesians 1:22-23; Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Peter 2:9-10)
7. The Return of Christ We believe in the personal, bodily, and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. His return will mark the culmination of God's redemptive plan and the final judgment of both the saved and the lost. (John 14:3; Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:12-13)
8. Eternity We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved will be resurrected to eternal life in God’s presence, and the lost to eternal conscious separation from God. (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:11-15)
